PREGNANCY COMPLICATIONS

Placenta accreta
Placenta accreta occurs when the placenta attaches too firmly to the womb. This disorder occurs in 1 in 5000 pregnancies, but it is becoming more common. Often occurs with placenta previa. There are three degrees of severity:
Placenta accreta - the placental roots grow too deeply into the muscular wall of the womb.
Placenta increta - the placenta invades through the muscle of the womb.
Placenta percreta - the placenta pushes through the uterine wall and invades into other organs, like the bladder.

Symptoms
Pain, vaginal bleeding, and contractions.

Complications
There can be uterine damage depending on severity. Heavy bleeding at the time of delivery.
