PLACENTAL BIOLOGY

The human placenta provides a valuable window into the gestational life of each corresponding fetus, as well as a glimpse into the mother's vascular, endocrine, and other systems. Studying the placenta and how it develops is leading to insights and answers to many questions about other life-threatening diseases such as cancer and heart disease. By careful examination of placentas from high-risk pregnancies we are devloping a bank of vaulable placental information that will enable us to study placental disease and dysfunction
